Marvel Comic's the Incredible Hulk is a green giant who is anything but jolly. Brainy physicist Bruce Banner developed into Hulk after accidental nuclear exposure.
The comic book hero known as the Incredible Hulk is known best for his Hulk Smash and was an instant smash hit with fans. Marvel Comics Brings to Life the Incredible HulkThe Incredible Hulk first appeared in his own comic, Incredible Hulk #1 in May of 1962. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the savage beast appears as the angry alter ego to Bruce Banner, a mild-mannered nuclear physicist. The Hulk appeals to anyone with a temper or any comic fan who loves to see the path of destruction following Hulk’s simple-minded phrases, such as “Hulk Smash!” In addition to a successful comic series, the Incredible Hulk also spawned 2 movies, 3 animated series, a tv series and numerous video games. Hulk Result of Bruce Banner Nuclear AccidentWhat sparked the physics genius Bruce Banner to suddenly sprout a giant, green, destructive alter ego? The scientist was accidentally exposed to a blast of gamma radiation when he pushed a wayward teen from his own experimental bomb's test site. The teen was spared, but Bruce Banner was burdened with an uncontrollable manifest of his angry “beast within.” Savage Hulk, Gray HulkIn the earliest comics, Hulk was gray-colored, appeared only at night and then reemerged as Bruce Banner in the morning; this version is known as Gray Hulk. Stan Lee was quoted as explaining he chose gray so as not to affiliate Hulk with any ethnic group. However, problems with gray coloring in the early editions of the comics led Lee to pick the unusual green coloring instead. Since then there have been numerous incarnations of the angry monster, including Mr. Fixit, Merged Hulk, Green Scar Hulk among others. The most commonly referred to (and also what is in the movie versions) is the classic Savage Hulk. Hulk’s Powers and AbilitiesAll versions include a Hulk who becomes more powerful with increasing emotional distress. Savage Hulk is child-like in thought and logic and retains few of Bruce Banner’s memories and traits, even if Bruce’s emotional state is the thing to spur the transformation.Though variations exist between the different incarnations, Hulk’s basic powers remain fairly constant. Hulk ThemesBesides embodying the entertainment value of destruction, the Incredible Hulk includes deeper themes of inner conflict and the effects of nuclear testing. Throughout his series, Banner determines that his inforturnate transformations are the result of emotional triggers, leading readers to rhetorically ask, isn't there a little Hulk in all of us? The fact that Hulk was the side effect of radiation from nuclear bomb testing also feeds on society's anxieties over the controversial projects.
