Magneto's mutant offspring prove not all superheroes come from wholesome upbringings. Twins Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were members of the Avengers.

The Mutant Master of Magnetism Magneto lived a tough life. Magneto came of age in a Aushwitz, the Nazi prison camp, and went on to see his parents and siblings slaughtered by the Nazis. It's no wonder the scarred youngster grew up with a bit of a chip on his shoulder about humanity. Like any caring father however, Magneto does want the best for his children.

Magneto's Twins: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

While at Auschwitx Magneto met a gypsy named Magda. The pair fell in love Magda became pregnant with Magneto's child. Unfortunately, Magneto and Magda were forced apart by Nazi soldiers and Magda fled to the Wundergore mountains to have her child in a gypsy home. Magneto fled to a nearby hospital wear he became a volunteer and eventaully met Professor X.

Magda and Magneto's child turned out to be twins, which Magda named Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. Magda presumably died in childbirth and the twins grew up in the Wundergore mountains until they discovered their poweres and were eventually discovered and claimed by Magneto.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Join the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants

Young and impressionable, the twins were convinced by Magneto to join his team of troublemakers and help with his personal mission to avoid another holocaust, this time involving the persecution of mutants, by establishing dominence over humans.

Wanda Maximoff became Scarlet Witch, due to her mutant power of manipulating probability-altering hexes related to her gypsy lineage and what she explained was chaos magic. Pietro Maximoff became Quicksilver because of his mutant ability to travel on foot at incredible speeds.

Magneto's Children Join Marvel Comics' Avengers

Much to Magneto's chagrin, his twin children became disillusioned by their father's evil plans and chose to join the villain-fighting super team The Avengers. The pair fought with Captain America and Thor, sometimes even against their own father and his Brotherhood. Scarlet Witch has been romantically linked to The Vision, an android.

Magneto's Other Daughter: Polaris

It was later revealed that Magneto had another child with an unknown mother. Lorna Dane, half sister to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, was raised by adopted parents and is better known as Polaris. The green-haired daughter of Magneto can control magnetic fields, including electric and gravitational fields. Polaris's history remains blurry, and it is sometimes disputed that she is Magneto's daughter.

Polaris is a long time affiliate to the X-Men and has also fought against her father Magneto and his band of rebels, however her record is not spotless. She was once brain washed by the super-villain Apocalypse and became one of his four Horsemen, Pestilence.

Magneto's Family and the House of M

Following a slow mental breakdown of Scarlet Witch and the events of the Avengers Disassembled, Magneto and his children lost their mutant powers in Marvel's House of M storyline. Distrought by the disappearance of her children combined with her growing mutant abilities to alter reality, Scarlet Witch mutters "No More Mutants." With those words she created a world in which millions of mutants are stripped of their powers as if they never had them, the entire Magneto family included.
