6 Super Hero Costume Ideas for Couples
If a couple wants to keep their look on the wholesome side of comic books, peruse these costume ideas:
Clark Kent and Lois Lane - This one's a classic and doesn't require much on the Lois Lane costume. A brown wig and a 1940's dame outfit will do, add a reporter's notebook and pen for an extra touch. For Superman, a simple Superman costume will do.
Spider-Man and Mary Jane - Another easy one for the gal-- red wig and tight fitting outfit. A Spider-Man costume for the Peter Parker part too. Try not to gross out other party-goers by attempting kiss upside-down all night.
Gambit and Rogue - For Rogue, wear long black gloves, trench coat and brown wig with white streak in front. Gambit has a staff and always carries playing cards. Ideal for the southern couple, since both Gambit and Rogue have a southern drawl.
Mr Fantastic and Invisible Woman - A fun one for both. In addition to store-bought or homemade Fantastic 4 uniforms, Mr Fantastic could carry around a scientific calculator or atom models for an extra touch.
Colossus and Kitty Pryde - Ideal if the guy is on the muscle-y side. Cover him with silver body paint. Kitty Pryde could carry a stuffed dragon: 'Lockheed.'
Cyclops and Jean Grey/Emma Frost- This costume has room for variability for the lady if the guy is set on being Cyclops (red sunglasses, crew cut and he's set). Emma Frost wears an outfit mostly of white lingerie. Jean Grey has an interesting Phoenix incarnation, complete with thigh high black boots, a black corset top and a Phoenix symbol over one eye.
Wolverine and Mariko - A bit obscure for non comic book fans, but a fun costume nonetheless. Mariko was Wolverine's Japanese bride who was killed by Wolverine's enemies.
Ultimate Colossus and Ultimate North Star - One of the only gay couples (well, potential couple) in the entire Marvel universe and will make a fun pair of costumes to put together.
Other notable comic book couples include Storm and Black Panther, Batman and Catwoman, Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris, and Green Arrow and Black Canary.
6 Comic Book Villain Costume Ideas
Don't feeling like being a 'good guy' couple this year? There are plenty of evil character couples for those in the mood to tantalize at Halloween.
Joker and Harley Quinn - Perhaps the craziest villain couple of all. This one will take lots of clown make-up for both. Use Heath Ledger's creepy look from Batman Dark Knight to scare the kiddies.
Dr Doom and Morgan le Fay - Morgan le Fay is a mythical sorceress from King Arthur's time. Dr. Doom was obsessed with her and eventually traveled back in time to be with her. Both love green clothing!
Doc Ock and Aunt May - Yes, a scary thought but this match did happen in the Marvel Universe. Though dressing up as an old woman will look very weird next to a man with several mechanical arms.
Lex Luthor and Supergirl - The blonde, female version of Superman with the most notable Superman villain, oh what a pair! Lex Luthor has a signature red hair and beard and usually wears a business suit.
Thanos and Lady Death - A grim reaper outfit for the lady and a blue and yellow costume for Thanos. Impress knowledgeable comic geeks with this epic pairing.
Villainous couples are a little rarer, due to a villain's inherent emotional issues. Either way, these costume ideas will look good, be scary, and impress even the most knowledgeable comic book fan at the party. Feel free to post other super hero couples costume ideas in the comment section below!
