The power of the graphic novel is unlimited. Modern novels have captured grand themes. This is only one.
The power of the graphic novel is unlimited. Books like Maus, The Death of Captain Marvel, Tex, Fax From Sarajevo, and King of Skull Island deal with grand issues and grand themes. Robert Luedke of Head Press has entered verboten ground and adapted the book of Acts and combined it with contemporary issues with outstanding results. When Dr Terry Harper flies to Jerusalem to inspect a new discovery for his colleague, his Christian assistant, Raj broaches the topic of faith. Brushing it off, he does not realize his faith (or lack of it) will bring him into a deep relationship with Jesus through a prophetic dream. Terrorism is at the root of the conflict in this story, and political correctness is the symptom. Dr Harper translated the half Greek, Roman, and Aramaic text on site to much surprise. The discovery is the testimony of Joseph of Aramithea and parallels the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts with surprising accuracy! The bombing of Harper and Raj leads to a 'death' and a birth. The Israeli service helps uncover a conspiracy that will shatter and build faith at the same time. This is an amazing story that draws on modern issues and tackles the issue that is at the root of the DaVinci Code and even the Gospel of Judas. The roles of Mary, Mary and Judas are built on intelligently. One great Graphic Novel from one great publisher. Look for Acts of the Sprit I and II in the next month or so. Robert Luedke has told me that #3 will be out within the year. What would inspire Mr Luedke to create such a book? "It's my mission to incorporate the greatest story ever told into a format that reaches people in a different setting. This story arc will surprise some, and offend some, but at its' heart is the message that Jesus is the way, truth and the life. I am proud of the two books." This is no fluff. This is the real thing. The story of Jesus has and will inspire readers until he comes again. This is one exceptional tool. Look for it at your local book store or online at www.HeadPress.com. I remain, A fan of the genre.
